Jogi's new book: pritisuvavarannu kondubidi

ಶೋಧಕ ಜೋಗಿ.

ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕೆ ಎಂತಹ ಕರ್ಕಶ, ಕಾನೂನು ಭಾಹಿರ ಹೆಸರು! ಏನೋ ಭಯಂಕರ ಭೀಭತ್ಸ ಕಾದಿದೆ ಎಂತಲೇ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡ ಮಧುರ ಭಾವ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ-ಪ್ರೇಮ ಪ್ರಪಂಚ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಶೋಧನೆ, ಅವುಗಳ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಸವಾಲುಗಳು ಪುಟ ಪುಟದಲ್ಲೂ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಆಳವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೆದಕುತ್ತವೆ, ಆವರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ-ವಾಸ್ತವ; ಮನೆತನ, ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ-ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಪ್ರೇಮ ಗಳ ವೈರುಧ್ಯವಿರುವಾಗ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲೇ ಕೊಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳದಿರುವಾಗ ಬದುಕು ದುಸ್ತರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕತೆಯೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಹಲವು ಮಜಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಾರ್ಥಕವಾಗಿ ಮುಗಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಾಮು ವಿನ ಕತೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೇಗೆ ಮಗನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೇ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕೋಂದೇ ಹಾಕಿಬಿಡುತ್ತೆ, ಅದು ಈಡಿಪಸ್ ನಂತೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾತವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಬದುಕಿನ ವಾಸ್ತವ ವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮಾರ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ತೋರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಜೋಗಿ.
ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾತು ಬಂದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ದಶಕಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓದಿದ ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ ಯವರ ಕವಿತೆಯೊಂದು ನನ್ನ ನೆನಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗ ಹೀಗಿದೆ:
ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೆಂಬೆ
ಕಪ್ಪೂರದ ಬೊಂಬೆ
ಸುಂದರವಾದುದು ಜ್ಯೋತಿಯನ್ನು, ಸುವಾಸನೆಯನ್ನು ಬೀರುತ್ತಾ ತನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಕರಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವಸಾನವಾಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ ಕರ್ಪೂರದ ಬೊಂಬೆ. ಕ್ಷಣಿಕ. ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೂ ಹಾಗೆ!
ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಜಾಲಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಗಾಢವಾದ ಎಚ್ಚರವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಾ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಜೋಗಿ ಈ ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ. ಭಲೇ ಜೋಗಿ

Doctors Strike in Karnataka

Karnataka Doctors on Strike.

Needle of Suspicion won't cure anything!

Doctors in Private Establishment have stuck their work over the Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Act( strictly speaking it is neither the Act or the Bill as it is yet to be introduced in the legislature) which the Government would like to bring to regulate private doctors in "inhuman" ways on the charge that those doctors exploit patients to earn  huge money for themselves. Patients are left in a lurch as they are hesitant to go to Government Hospital because of poor facility or corruption there and the other course of seeking Private Centers are closed due to strike.

The Private doctors argue that there are already stringent bodies to regulate and monitor them such as IMA, Consumer Courts and Civil and Criminal Courts and there is no need to have yet another Body. Government argues that exploitation is continuing in spite of those Bodies and hence the new regulation to put stringent measures to curb the malpractices. But, what is the guarantee that even the Bodies created by KPME Act also won't be equally, if not more, corrupt as the other existing Bodies? It would be one more center to harass private establishments.

There are good and bad in both Private and Government medical establishments, may  be the bad is increasing in both the sector of late. The medicine you offer(KPME) to cure that can not be worse than a disease.  Some of the Private Medical Facility in Karnataka have made good name in the national and even International level, patients from different part of the world come to Bangalore and other centers in Karnataka and return with high praises for the cost and facility here, please do not destroy that. Punish the guilty soon and harsh in both the sector but encourage the good ones equally soon and wholeheartedly in both the sector.

 The way the Government is handling the crisis is giving raise to all sort of suspicion, the latest one going round is that Rs 500 crore was asked for Election Fund and when the Private Managements did not accede the KPME is brought in, the Management even went to the Command at the Center and there too they were told to settle at the local level! The delay may further confirm the the rumor round. I hope and wish that the rumor is unfounded and somebody among the doctors who are involved should come out boldly either way (Yes or No) to the rumor for the sake of social health.

Jogi's new book on Bengaluru

ಈ ಕೃತಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಬದುಕಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜೋಗಿಯವರು ಬರೆದ ಮೂರನೆಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ , ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಅಂತ ಅವರೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹಲವು ವರ್ಗಗಳ-ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ನ, ಮಧ್ಯಮ ವರ್ಗದ - ಹುಟ್ಟು, ಇರವು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾವುಗಳ ಹಂದರ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಕಥನ ಶೈಲಿ, ಓಘ, ಜೋಡಣೆ ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋಗಿಗೆ ತುಂಬ ಅವಸರ. ಅವರು ತರುವ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರ ಮೇಲೂ ಒಂದು ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನೇ ಬರೆಯಬಹುದಿತ್ತು, ಆದರೆ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಮೂರೂ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಬದುಕಿನ ಎಲ್ಲ ವೈರುಧ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅವರಿಗೆ, ಯಾವುದೇ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿಲ್ಲುವ, ವ್ಯಯಿಸುವ ವ್ಯವಧಾನವಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಡುತ್ತಾ ಆ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯ-ವೈರುಧ್ಯ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಮಾನ ಅಂಶ ಗೋಚರಿಸಿ, ಅರೆ!, ಎಲ್ಲರ ಬದುಕು ಇದೇ, ಇಷ್ಟೇ  ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಸಂತ ಭಾವದ  ಸುಳಿವು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಜನರ ಮದುವೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳು ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಪ್ರೇಮ, ಆತ್ಮೋದ್ಧಾರ ಗಳಿಗಲ್ಲ, ಅವು ಬದುಕಿನ ನೆರವಿಗೆ. ಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳಚುವ ಬಂಧನ, ಆದರೂ  ಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬದುಕು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯತೆ ಮನಕಲಕುವ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಜೋಗಿ.  

ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಲೇಪನದ ವಿಷಾದ ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಮುದಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ: ಮಾತು ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಗಾದೆ ಹೇಳುವ ಶಿವಲಿಂಗಯ್ಯ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಪಂಡಿತರಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ, ಪಾಮರರಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಗಾದೆಗಳು. ಮದುವೆಯ ಅರತಕ್ಷತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಜಲ್ ಗಾಯಕರು ಏರುದನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 'ಚುಪಕೆ ಚುಪಕೆ ರಾತ್ ದಿನ್ .. ಆಂಸೂ ಬಹಾನ ಯಾದ್ ಹೈ' ಅಂತ ಹಾಡುವುದು. ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳು: "ತುಳಸೀಕಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತುಳಸೀಗಿಡ ನೀರು ಕಾಣದೇ ಸೊರಗಿ ಸೊರಗಿ, ಕೊನೆಗಾಲದ ಹರಿಭಕ್ತನಂತೆ ಮುರುಟಿಹೋಗಿತ್ತು".  "ಆ ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಪಂಜರದೊಳಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕಾರು ನೊಣಗಳು ಜ್ಞಾನೋದಯವಾದಂತೆ ಹಾರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು."

Of Crime, Government and Investigation.

People of eminence are shot dead. Investigation into crime is ordered by the Government through its agencies (like CID, SIT). Investigation goes on and on, years after years and yet no report sees the light of the day. Is our Police so inefficient, their training is of so very poor quality or passed them and got into their positions thereon through bribes(cf. KPSC and VYAPAM scams)? Or, even if there are efficient ones they are either sidetracked or coerced to act in a particular way including delaying the process? Of course, there are cases where police have acted swiftly and brought the culprit to book in weeks, however rare such cases may be. Yet, it is only half the story. The other half belong , in both the cases of their success and failure, it appears, to the agencies' boss, the Government. Revelation or not of the findings or even proceeding with the investigation depend on its advantage to the Party in governance.

When the so called leftist wing is in charge of the government, if the investigation's initial findings reveal the hand of other than rightist elements, its finding is not allowed to conclude or investigation itself is not proceeded with till the election is over so that it can take advantage of the people's suspicion and keep on blaming the rightist element for the killing and use it to its advantage during election canvas. However, if the initial finding reveal rightist element in the murder, investigation is proceeded with God's speed and the culprit is booked soon. Similarly, if the so called rightist wing is in Power, investigation hints at leftist element in the killing, investigation is proceeded speedily and all action is taken to its end; however, if investigation hints at rightist element in the crime, the investigation is either buried or delayed till the election to take advantage to blame the opponent.

Search for truth, 'intellectuals' including media bemoaning, people's aspiration hardly matters for politicians on these matters at these times as they know that it has no bearings, like the corruption, on people's voting during election.

Only, people's faith in the time honoured institutions get weakened paving way for anarchy and even mutinies by such action of politicians in Power.

Awakening Darkness !


A political naiveté, (naive inspite of heavy political surroundings for long years), who is also a Vice President of a National Party, made a statement other day in his Party Forum in Tamil Nadu that he is studying Upanishads to take on RSS and BJP and the Upanishads talk of equality which the RSS/BJP abhor. You cannot bank on Upanishads to counter as Upanishads are apolitical. Upanishads main concern is on Ultimate/Supreme Reality and Its relation to Life and World, and individual transformation; there is hardly any political thoughts and practices mentioned directly. The equality they talk of is of a totally different kind than found in the contemporary discourses, in the former it refers to the equality in the attainment of divinity and divine grace whereas in the latter it amounts to silting-up-some-and-hammer-down-some type, in practice, although different in its preaching.

He can find political thoughts and practices in umpteen number of other works such as, to name only the few, Ramayana(ayodhya kanda in particular), Mahabharata(Bhisma Parva), Vidura(viduraniti) Kautilya(Artha shastra), Manu(dharmashastra) and so on. He could do well to go through them, adapt them to suit present condition and work on the welfare of people and society as well on his own transformation using those thoughts and practices rather than take on somebody with it. Himself and his Party will again have a bright future if he does so.

ಕಳಬೇಡ, ಕೊಲಬೇಡ, ಹುಸಿಯ ನುಡಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ, ಮುನಿಯ ಬೇಡ, ಅನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ ಪಡ ಬೇಡ, ತನ್ನ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಬೇಡ, ಇದಿರ  ಹಳಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ. ಇದೇ ಅಂತರಂಗ ಶುದ್ಧಿ, ಇದೇ ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಶುದ್ಧಿ, ಇದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲ ಸಂಗಮ ದೇವರನೊಲಿಸುವ ಪರಿ. 

Do not steal, do not kill, do not lie, do not be angry, do not be scornful of others, do not glorify yourself, do not insult others. This alone is inward purity, this alone is outward purity. This alone is the way to attract our kudalasangamadeva.

TRANSFORMING TO THE OTHER WHOLLY ENRICHING WORLD IN US.

INNER ENGINEERING - Yogi's Guide to Joy by Sadhguru. Penguin, 2016, Pp.271, Rs.299.


This is a fascinating work, full of insights and practices for a personal growth towards highest human endeavour.

 Sri Jaggi Vasudev calls himself Sadhguru, an eight letter word as he would not want to use a four letter word, guru, he says! He hails from Mysore, graduated in English Literature from Mysore University. His early guru was Malladihalli Swamy, as Swamy is popularly known, his name being Raghavendra Rao, pen name being tiruka. Later guru was Palini Swamy in Tamilnadu. Sadhguru has a very long practice of Yoga,( nearly 35 years, although he was having intense spiritual experiences since childhood) and in fact to perfect his speciality Yoga, Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya he took 21 years to suit it to propagate for the benefit of others. He built the Isha Yogic Centre and in it the magnificent Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple housing a 13 feet and 9 inches Linga under a 76 ft. high dome in Velliangiri Hills near Coimbatore. Now his ashrama is a throbbing centre of yogic practice as well as a huge environmental initiatives along with variety of Community Services not only in the state of Tamilnadu but also all over the world. Recently, in 2017, he was conferred Padma Vibhushan Award by the Government of India.

There are people who would do intense spiritual practice, sadhana, for the attainment, and there are people who on its own have intense and series of spiritual experiences that turn them to spiritual practices to stabilise such experiences. Sri. Jaggi Vasudev belong to the latter category. Since childhood he used to have experiences of being one with the cosmos without the  boundary between himself and the world, being limitless. The book is an exquisite expression of what all he underwent and what transformed eventually resulting in what he is and what he is doing today.

Everyone can get into such an existential state where he/she is being one with all the beings-living and nonliving- in the world in a heightened frequency of responding and accomplishing in peace and joy. The book is replete with his personal experiences, encounters with the people around with umpteen number of anecdotes that hits you with fresh insights and understanding. Once, he had a deep cut till the bone in the calf muscle, went to a village medical centre that has run out anaesthetic facility, underwent 52 sutures at length, chatting all along with the doctor, and when the doctor asked him is he not having any pain for which Sadguru remarks that pain is natural and it is good as it warns and protects organisms but suffering is a self creation. Another time in Mount Kailash how he recharged himself with the vibrations of mystique knowledge surrounding the mountain atop, in front of 200 people, and resounded himself with robust health and joy is heart warming. He had been seeing a mountain in his eyes since he was young, an urge made him search for it where he finally got the Velliangiri Hill which is situated in such a geographical condition ideally suitable for spiritual practice. The story of four idiots - jnana, bhakti, karma and kriya yogas - who always condemn each other but got realisation only when they came together is illuminative.

The song of the book is that there is a world beyond what our Body (Senses) and Mind (Intellect and Emotions) have fetched us and that world is the home of all creation from which we all came and are sustained, a source of immense and boundless energy. Everyone can access that world and reap immeasurable benefits in terms of peace, joy and limitless attainments, a limitless, boundless, joyful beings we all can become. Our senses and mind are outer bound cannot experience the inner world and what is more they override us. Being should take charge of them, be a master of them and use them as tools, rise them higher to be sensitive to the inner world as well. As such, the book is not a mere narration of the life and works but a practical cookbook to help access that energy. Every section under Body, Mind, Energy and Joy is replete with tiny, simple and yet powerful mental exercises to introduces us to that world beyond, a world which is not transcendental but homecoming. The way out for the
mess we are in is way in. He presents a technology to go in.

The book is written in an easy style with full of wits and humours, stories and anecdotes and evidences from Science.  Production of the book is also creative with different types and shades for stories, anecdotes and exercises. We are grateful to the author for giving us such a book of wisdom and practice. Publisher, Penguin, should be congratulated for their creative designing and production of the book.
